Monga had gone public announcing a film inspired by Harleen Sethi's real-life struggle. The film, titled as Keel Muhaase, was supposed to roll this year. Monga had decided that his first choice would be Zaira Wasim. The young Secret Superstar actress had impressed Monga no end and he was optimistic that he would make her sign on the dotted line.
But the meeting between Zaira and Monga never happened. Confirming the news with SpotboyE.com this evening, Monga said, "I wish Zaira had not quit Bollywood. I am extremely shocked at her decision. God knows what prompted her to take it. I was about to go to her and ask her if she would be interested in playing the protagonist. I maintain that Zaira is an ocean of talent. Honestly, I think she should reconsider her decision."
Monga and Harleen are friends. "After Harleen enlightened me, I deep-dived into it. A year ago, my daughter Simran was diagnosed with it as well. It is known to affect a lot of women, many of whom go into depression and some develop suicidal tendencies. In her early days, Harleen would panic ahead of auditions, fearful of sudden pimple outbreaks. She has now come out of it beautifully," Monga had told Mumbai Mirror.
The actress, who was last seen in Ekta Kapoor’s web series Broken opposite Vikrant Massey, was diagnosed with PCOS at 15. For the first six to seven years, no doctor could figure out the problem. It was then her mother who suggested a blood test to check for hormonal issues. That’s when she learned that it was PCOS and started dealing with it accordingly.
Monga hadn't considered Harleen to play the protagonist in Keel Muhaase because the role in question requires a younger girl.
